      • i found some pics of spring break 03... and it took me back to punta cana, and your dominican boyfriend. j is the only girl who can arrive at a resort and have natives proposing to her within 5 minutes of meeting her. what was his name?? remember how he used to stalk you when we did water aerobics in the morning? and what about the time we went parasailing and they took us out to the middle of the carribean sea in a tin boat with no lifejackets? oh the fun times...we gotta go away again j! i miss you!!!

      • I like Jessica, because even though she's bound to be surgeon and I'm an internist, we still get along, occasionally. For instance, the other night at Bar, she happily offered her drink to me, as she claimed to be too drunk to finish it. Then, she gave me shit for finishing it.

      • jess and i first met at a-one late one night after club med. in the course of the next year, it was to be the site of many late nights for us. we've shared many adventurous (as well as unadventurous) nights in the have. from yoga and vying for affections from aaron (you win!), to catching the mini-bus after the sun was out, to early morning sleepovers (psst. are you sleeping?), our craddle-robbing (won't mention any names) to our photo-shoots. through it all, i've always admired and respected jessica's spirit and strength as well as style. she's got beauty and brains and will make an excellent surgeon one day. just don't buy a ramones shirt from urban outfitters and wear it in front of her unless you actually know one of their songs or there will be hell to pay. love and miss you jess!

      • To steal Greg's metaphor, I repeatedly
enter the inner cactus only to get thrown
out and try to get back in again. You
might think it silly to go through so
much pain, why not walk away, but I tell
you it's a rewarding process. One day
we might even be wise enough to settle
on some sort alternative, but for now it's
        bristles and cuts.

      • Jessica and I are seeing this whole med
school thing all the way through... and
then we can retire at the ripe old age of
35 and go to Parsons where we really
belong. But that's why I think Jessica is
so damn cool...she doesn't subscribe to
any one school of thought. She has her
own philosophy; her own manifesto. It's
been a long time since someone
challenged me as a person, to make me
ask myself what I am and I want to do
with myself this very second. Forget
tomorrow, next week, next year. That's
not what life's about anyway. Most
people are too apathetic to care
about "now" because that takes effort.
And it takes effort to push boundaries
and challenge the system- Jessica does
it so effortlessly. Thanks for being that
person. And thanks for yanking my
sorry butt out of my house on Thursday
nights cause I always have a good time :-

      • (Birthday testimonial part 2, continued
        from above...)

You are like a desert rose, no better
yet, a cactus (seriously). In an arid
        and desolate climate (read medical
school), you don a tough and ominous
exterior, yet you have managed to find
and collect vibrancy for living that is
quite rare. And though, your exterior
may be prickly, once I got past the
surface, I found at the core a
        refreshing personality, a loyal friend,
an amazing dance partner, and the
        makings of great
        surgeon/psychiatrist/fashion designer.
Heres to you, Jessica Beard. At 24 you
already command the room with your
presence. Cant wait to see what you do
        with it.

      • Better late than never...

Ah yes, an infinite amount of e-space to
rant or rave about Jessica Beard. Well,
Im not sentimental very often, so Id
better make this good. J.Beard it has
been a remarkable past few months
(beginning with Diwali II) since we have
enjoyed the deepening of our friendship.
I have met few people with as much
passion, or as many opinions for that
matter, and in my mind I am the better
for it. I have benefited from your
unique and informed views on everything
from tribal identity to the over-hyping
of the AIDS crisis to Burberry clothing.
I never knew English majors could be so
smart and cool and sexy. Your flare
and your style make you a queen among
        handmaidens.
        (more to come...)
