Hinamori Amu is the rumored punk girl of Seiyo Elementary, but in reality she is just as normal as any other girl. Having just transferred to this new school, all of her actions are misinterpreted as cool and rebellious. She just wants to be normal, go out with the school idol, and have a change in personality. Oddly enough, a string of weird occurrences begin to happen to her, starting with a warning from a famous fortune-teller. As she adapts to her new school, three fairies appear one by one, each with the ability to change her personality. These fairies change Amu's life drastically, and allow her to join a special group of the school's Guardians, who’s big requirement to join is to have a fairy, called a "Character". As the fifth member of this select group, she joins them to find a secret that will grant them their deepest desires.
The characters are all definitely likable and all grow on you as the story progresses, Amu especially, since she not only has one Character but three of them. Just when you think you know the characters, the ones with Characters change completely. Amu can become more athletic, a better artist and cook with hers alone. The change in the others' characters are even crazier, a perfect reason to keep reading so everyone's powers are uncovered.
