About Me:
I am full of contradictions, I mispronounce everything, and I never sleep. This probably just makes me a typical Gemini.
I am easily amused and entertained, which may be part of the reason I so rarely leave my house. I enjoy dancing around my living room in striped toe-socks, making S'mores and drinking wine with friends by the outdoor fireplace, having lazy movie nights with my daughter, listening to the sound of cicadas outside my window, driving, highways, and local history. I also enjoy web design in moderation, amateur photography and film-making, and the gopher protocol.
Currently, I am reveling in a period of well-deserved domestic laziness in a small yet comfortable house in the no-man's-land between Knoxville and Farragut, with my beautiful seven-year-old daughter, my charming "hetero-lifemate" E., and our cat Pantoufle. I spend a great deal of time in my pajamas, playing vintage Nintendo, reading fantasy novels, and occasionally dabbling in housework. However, I am beginning to orchestrate grand, philanthropic schemes of creative pursuits and professionalized employment in hopes of repaying my debt to society and putting my Master's Degree to good use. I have been receiving academic awards in creative writing for twenty years, and yet I am still not certain I am truly a writer.
-
Who I Want to Meet:
I am incredibly turned on by wittiness, the turn of a clever phrase, the dynamic exchange of ridiculous and brilliant ideas long into the small hours of the morning. Geekiness in all forms -- comics, gaming, computers, LAN parties, conventions. Creative expression -- art, music, writing, photography, film. A sense of humor that borders on silliness, and a vastly eclectic taste in all things pop culture. The way to my heart is through a brilliantly orchestrated mix tape -- just call me John Cusack.

Man, I hope I can make it to the reunion....I so miss everyone!
But, if not, please feel free to crash on my counch anytime!
You are STILL one of the coolest chicks I know.
one like her, who needs another? She
radiates a kindness and decency so
powerful that a can perceive it even
through the obscuring mist of family
interaction. But there is steel a-plenty
beneath those warm eyes and kind
smile. She has reserves of strength,
she does. I know, because I have heard
it from Mugger. She is choice bit of
work. A real page-turner with deft
characterization and intricate plotting.
vocabulary to describe just how special
Devon is. She's the Ringo to my George
and should never be without her wings.
will ever get to meeting someone
capable of real magic. this girl sees
everything with a profundity and style
no one else is even close too. and in
the interest of saying at least one
thing silly in this testimonial,
SASQUATCH!
talked to her on the phone once in 1998
and thought she was really cool. More
importantly, though, is this: I may not
know her, but people whom I love, love
her. And that, I think, is always the
best testimonial.
met her once while she was pregnant,
Devon had been hidden back in the
hills by the time we started to work
together over the internet. I edited
her artwork for another 2 years before
we'd really get to hang out together.
And through all that time I grew
closer to the people who know and love
her, who would kiddingly call
themselves "The Cult of Devon". I
thought that was wierd, way back when -
the idea that all these people would
sort of bow down to the one person in
the room who is often the smallest in
voice and stature. Everyone seems to
know, just know, that Devon's going to
make it happen, that she's going to
rule some small part of the world.
After three years of being influenced
by her life, I have to agree. If, at
gunpoint, I were asked to declare some
religion or die, I would gladly plead
acolyte to this woman a third of my
size. Because I have come to believe.
quite-humanest dollface i know. she
always has something encouraging to
say, and she can be simultaneously the
flakiest and most responsible person i
know (with maybe one exception).
