Di film Laskar Pelangi, Muhamad Syukur Ramadan berperan sebagai Syahdan. Kelakuannya selama di lokasi syuting selalu mengundang gelak tawa. Siapa pun diajaknya bergurau. Hobinya yang lain adalah main bola dan membaca komik. “Saya suka sekali menggambar dan bercita-cita jadi arsitek.” Siswa SMP ini terkesan begitu menikmati pekerjaannya sebagai aktor. Wajahnya selalu gembira. Meski begitu, ia sempat kesulitan ketika harus beradegan menari bersama teman-temannya dalam acara karnaval di tengah kerumunan orang banyak. “Malu kalau jadi tontonan,” katanya. Tapi malunya hanya sesaat. Sejurus kemudian, ia sudah menari dengan asyiknya. ‘Saya sudah berniat akan main sebagusbagusnya untuk ibu saya yang belum lama ini meninggal.” Kali ini ia berkata dengan serius, tanpa canda.
