It is very impossible to think Raquel Agapito would have become if she did not become a political personality. But her family background and excellent education led her to be part of social transformation through the politics. Influenced by his father who is a court judge and a former city councilor, Raquel is a Political Science and Bachelor of Law degrees holder.
Cabanatueños saw her conviction, strong personality, leadership edge and spiritual foundation during her first term tenure as city councilor in 1998-2001 that they made her number 7 councilor last 2001-2004. Raquel proved to the people that she deserves to be on the top by giving them a whole-hearted and God-centered service. She became number 1 councilor in the City last 2004-2007, acting as City Vice-Mayor for so many times. Now her territory was enlarged after the whole 3rd District of Nueva Ecija elected her as their number 1 Provincial Board Member.
Raquel is a great leader of her family first, before of the community. She and her husband Dominador Santos, Sr. have five boys: Jameel Ricardo, Noel Angelo, Antonio Ricardo, Dominador Jr. and Sebastian Roie. Yes, five active boys who require an active mom. It is not surprising for a mother like Raquel to have a heart for the children and women. She is the author of the Cabanatuan City Children’s Code, Nueva Ecija Children’s Code and Gender and Development Council. She is also an advocate of government employees rights as shown in her legislative achievements in the Province of Nueva Ecija. Raquel spent her life as a city councilor and now a Board Member developing programs and projects for these sectors: Bantay Bata Hotline 600-6163, Sagip-Batang Manggagawa, Children’s and Women’s Desk in Hospitals, Anti-Human Trafficking Council, Women’s Crisis Center, Anti-Pornography of any form are just a few of her programs. In her first few days as Provincial Board Member, Raquel was able to raise the salaries of government employees by 10%, fought for the implementation of Magna Carta for Public Health Workers and RATA increase. This political will gave her the opportunity to be chosen by the UNICEF as a resource speaker in most of its women and children rights advocacy programs.
As a covenant member of Victory Christian Fellowship Cabanatuan City, where she is also a small group leader, Raquel indeed has a strong foundation to carry the burdens of the society. She believes that a leader must have a strong foundation in life to better serve the people. And she saw that foundation in the person of Jesus Christ – the rock where her life and her family are laid down. No wonder Raquel Agapito is a woman of integrity, character and righteousness.
