Alright, don't touch me.
I think may have been a date, to the
mall. Shortly afterward, we were talking
on the phone and he told me that,
because of some birth defect or tragic
accident, he had to have his spine
removed and replaced with pvc piping. I
didn't really know what pvc piping was,
and thought that he may have been
telling the truth so I tried to react
sympathetically, at which point he
(understandably) began to tease me. At
fifteen I was too intimidated by Eric's
sophisticated sense of humor, superior
knowledge of plumbing materials, and
overall coolness to pursue him as I
should have, and I think this may still
be the case. But one day I will be a
smarter, better, braver version of
myself, and I WILL call Eric when I come
to town. Until then, I will just have to
count on the fateful encounters at the
fireside bowl that have sustained our
friendship thus far.
