About Me:
I'm a displaced Yankee who was born and raised in New England. I love wicked cold weather and clam chowda, but I've also learned to love Austin and the unique people who live here. I spent my youth skiing, hiking, singing Aerosmith songs in front of a mirror and with my nose in a book. I graduated from Colby College in 2000 and worked in South Boston, where I was exposed to the seedy underbelly of Southie life on a regular basis. In 2002 I came to Austin to get my masters in print journalism. When I graduated I decided I had more to learn about Austin and Texas so I stayed put and started to write. For a few years I covered Hays County politics for a small weekly paper called the Free Press, and I now cover transportation, health care and regional development for the Austin Business Journal. I drive a really old pickup truck that sometimes doesn't start, but I love it dearly.

but you should see the wicked grin on
her face when I stumble into work
Monday mornings and confide in her my
weekend's debauchery in all the gory
glorious details. The cool thing is, she
can usually match it. Seriously, she's a
bad-ass chick and a great writer, and
her level of hatred for the Bush
administration is admirable.
never seen much more focused and angry
when she's talking about the bush admin. I
think getting kicked by horses and the head
injuries have really added to her spunk.
Massachusetts I know. Come to think of it,
she's the only karate-lovin' diva from
Massachusetts I know. Kate and I share a
mutual admiration for Orbit gum and The
Sound of Music. For that reason, we will be
eternally connected. Kate rocks!
freakishly large head. It amazes me
that she keeps such positive attitude
while surrounded by such ignorance and
prejudice. But Kate perseveres, proving
to the world that just because she has
an enormous melon doesn't mean she can
use a scanner.
