as a good friend of mine. We went
through alot together, from the
founding of the PCI to our time of
imprisonment at Ustica. Alot of people
see us as political adversaries, which
was true, but on a personal level we
couldn't have been closer. I can't say
though that Antonio really understood
Marxism. His theories of culture and
hegemony smacked of idealism. Worst of
all, he knew Togliatti and Stalin were
scumbags but he let himself get used by
them anyway. I think Gramsci sincerely
hoped for the revolution, but I cannot
say the same for the petty-bourgeois
intellectuals who throw his name around
today, using his work to legitimize
their foul opportunism which has misled
the working class throughout the worst
counter-revolutionary period in
history.
tool, a stupid cog, a useless gear
spinning around in the machine. but
gramsci showed me that i am in fact, an
organic intellectual. and thats a lot
better than being one of those nerdy
geeky tradional intellectuals
masturbating in there ivory tower. i
love you man.
the dominated. Spot on, Antonio.
