About Me:
I grew up in Western Massachusetts and came to the Bay Area
in 1997. I got involved with the free software community
and was involved in some interesting activist stuff during
and after the boom -- most importantly, as an organizer of
the movement to free Dmitry Sklyarov. I'm one of the
maintainers of the LNX-BBC rescue disc (a live-CD
mini-distribution) and I'll send you one if you want.
After working at Linuxcare for a while, I ended up as the
first Staff Technologist of the Electronic Frontier
Foundation. I work as a consulting expert on litigation and
do technical research and public speaking about EFF issues,
especially copyright law. I've also gotten to lobby the
Federal Communications Commission and testify before the
United States Copyright Office.
Inspired by my father, who is a used and rare book dealer,
I'm a book collector. I collect and read in several
different areas; the highlight of my collection is an
attempt at the complete works of Martin Gardner.
I'm a published poet, but that's a long and strange story.

born. Seth David is my one and only
brother. And, what a brother! I couldn't
be more proud and happy!
Although we got off on a rocky start,
(there is a 7 year age difference and I
spent a good portion of our childhoods
annoying him..) we are so close now. I
call Seth all the time for advice, for help
on a math problem, and to let him know
about my latest love interest.
The last time I saw Seth was in June.
He flew home for my high school
graduation...what a sweetie!
Basically, I love Seth....and am so happy
that I get to call him my brother,
Sethness, Sahara Seth, or big bro.
Little known facts about Seth:
-He had a stuffed animal that he
named "Doggy Eats with us"
-He was on a dorky gameshow called
As School's Match
-He used to wear huge brown plastic
glasses
-He protested in front of a McDonald's
when he was really little
-He doesn't like tomatoes very much
-For halloween one year, he dressed up
as a scary mon
since we met way back at the chess
club in fourth grade. Besides having
one of the coolest names I know, he's
been a loyal and one of my longest-
lasting friends. I've met a lot of
people who talk about principles, Seth
is one of the few I know who lives his
principles.
doesn't mind hearing in one's head. In
the nearly six years since I've met him,
I have yet to hear him yell. He doesn't
have to.
which I did not come away knowing at least a
little more than I did when I started. Think
about how few people there are in the world
that you can say that about.
on our way to Franklin & Marshall (?) I
think Micah was there too! (he was just
a wee small boy - - - not hipster like
today! lol!) anyway, we were driving
Seth to Genius camp. LoL! yup . . .
this boy recited pi to me to the nth
degree. That's when i knew my Mother
was about to marry a man with good
genes, whose son was something of a
genius. This is not all, Seth - - -
being a Libra appreciates the beauty in
life both internal and external. He is
not only my brother by marriage but
truly has become a friend - - - through
tickeling and torture, lol!
Any woman who receives the devotion of
this emotionaly-intelligent
intellectual-brainiac is the luckiest
most special woman and must have a set
of skills all her own.
Seth . . . I do hope there comes a west
coast time for me, so much yet to be
done on the East coast . . . so much!
xoxoxoxo, Le'hitraot!
intelligent technology experts I've
ever met (and certainly the only one I
ever worked with) who's not a snob
about it. He'd much rather teach you
than gloat over you. A very big-
hearted guy, with the most even
temper of anyone I can ever
remember meeting. Plus he could
probably be the world's first geek
standup comic. And if you ever need
a poster diagramming the entire
electromagnetic spectrum, talk to
this guy first.
course he is brilliant, and of course
he makes a huge contribution in his
work with the EFF and the other work
he has done. Zack makes a good
point about the wonderful care Seth
has for his loved ones.
Seth impresses me most with his
thoughful and forthright writing. I am
always reminded of the importance
of thinking things through, and I only
hope that I can be as honest in my
writing as Seth is in his.
operate on the boring rules of an
ordinary human. He shows up to parties
he helped throw and doesn't use the
letter 'E'. He is a freedom fighter, a
white-hat hacker of such brilliant
light it's whiter than Tide-white. You
don't feel normal around Seth, nor
should you: you feel transported into a
world where intellectual freedom
thrives. He Is The One.
