________
THE NU107 ROCK AWARDS TRIVIA
1994 saw the birth of what is to become the biggest annual gathering of the finest rock musicians in the country—the NU107 Rock Awards! The very first NU107 Rock Awards was held in a place called The Music Hall in Annapolis St. Greenhills. What was meant to be a small gathering to give recognition to the finest people in the rock community is now the BIGGEST and most anticipated rock event in the country.
The first ever Song of the Year Award was given to Alamid for the song “Your Love.” The song then went on to rule the airwaves and was in fact the very first NU107 exclusive to cross over to other formats.
The Dawn is the perennial Rock Awards band. They’ve performed in all 13 previous Rock Awards and are slated to perform again this year.
The first ever to win Video of the Year was “Ang Huling El Bimbo” by the Eraserheads.
In the whole history of the Rock Awards there have only been two ties. In 1999, the judges deemed Wolfgang’s “Atomica” and Sandwich’s “4 Track Mind” as that year’s Album of the Year; and in 2007 where Rivermaya’s Mark Escueta and Bamboo’s Vic Mercado both bagged the Drummer of the Year Award.
Raimund Marasigan is the only individual with the most Rock Awards—for his work as a member of Eraserheads and Sandwich, and as record producer for a number of rock projects with other bands.
The first ever band to win the Rock Awards’ In the Raw Award was Fatal Posporos. The In the Raw Awards is given to the best unsigned artist of the year.
In 2000, the Rock Awards’ “Punk’s Not Dead” all-star tribute band performed a medley of past Song of the Year winners, of course in the style of The Ramones. It was composed of Myra Ruaro (Brownbeat All Stars), Louie Talan (Razorback), Diego Castillo (Sandwich), Raimund Marasigan (Sandwich), Zach Lucero and Aia de Leon (Imago (band)).
In 2004, NU107, knowing the growing role of females in the rock scene, gave out the first ever Female Rock Icon Award to Ms Cynthia Alexander.
Before it became a rock anthem of sorts, Bamboo’s “Noypi” was first performed at the 2003 NU107 Rock Awards, even before the album “As The Music Plays” came out.
Despite a typhoon, 2004’s Rock Awards was NU107’s most attended yet, with over 4,000 rock fans filling the World Trade Center.
2005's Rock Awards has already set a record of sorts, with the most ever nominees for Song of the Year Award with 12.

About Me:
The hunkiest among the hunky jocks!
and http://2girls1show.multiply.com
Birthday: January 01, 1985
About Me:
Kim also handles Events and Marketing in Magnet High Street at The Fort, is a retired graphic designer (retired after three months), spins punk and metal music at tugish takish clubs, is obsessed with skateboards 10 years too late, sleeps at 6am, and never wakes up before lunch- hence the manly voice on air.
In her free time (which is non-existent), she saves whale sharks.

Name: JEWEL
Nickname: Jewel
Birthday: January 01, 1985
About Me:
Like the name suggests, I am a Jewel that sparkles in the night sky. I bring the light into the darkness that surrounds you. I shine. I shimmer. I’m spectacularly splendid.
At least that’s what my mom tells me.
I am a rockstar. Or so I like to pretend to be.

Name: JAMO
Nickname: Jamo
Birthday: January 01, 1985
About Me:
Jamo will creep into your ears every midnight.
About Me:
Roanna Ruiz was born in the Philippines but left at the age of 9 together with her mother to live in Bahrain. After 4 years, they vacationed in the States and at the age of 13, she begged her parents to allow her to study there. She went back to the Philippines at the age of 15 and has lived there since. She started her career early in the corporate world working her way from call center agent to Department Head of Outbound with a Team of 100 personnel acting as Manager, Trainer & Motivational Speaker. Although, having achieved success in the corporate world - the craving for the arts soon overpowered and just last 2008, she quit her high-paying high-profile job to live the life of an artist and musician. She currently has an array of activities aside from her DJ job at NU107. She is also a communications trainer, an events host, an actress, artist & musician. She is the vocalist of the band Dimmerswitch (www.myspace.com/dimmerswitchmusic) and also has a solo experimental project called Pixie, in which she creates the digital beats & music herself and is mainly a fusion of NIN, Filter & Portishead. Roanna loves the beach, scuba diving, horseback riding, travelling, learning foreign languages & meeting new people.
Being a person who not only gets a thrill in motivating others but who also loves challenges lives by the rule "Life is either a daring adventure or...NOTHING!
Favorite bands : Filter, Portishead, NIN, Franz Ferdinand, Nirvana, Beck & more!

Name: JAY
Nickname: Joystick Jay
Birthday: January 01, 1985
About Me:
A self-professed eternal ugly duckling, Jay moved back to the Philippines in 1998 to pursue a college education after being raised in a small Southeast Asian sultanate since the age of 6 months. After spending some time in professional limbo, he joined the ranks of NU 107 when he attended an open cattle call in 2005. He’s often caught daydreaming about being an award-winning actor-model-filmmaker-musician-demigod, occasionally bursts into song in public, and is a classically trained procrastinator. He adopted “Joystick” as his on-air appendage because the concept of control greatly intrigues him. His weaknesses include tragic artistic expressions, fruit smoothies, perfectly defined obliques and a healthy sense of humor. Take a sound shower with him every morning from 6-9 AM, Mondays to Saturdays.

Name: SHANNEN
Nickname: Shannen
Birthday: January 01, 1985
About Me:
Sensibility...

Name: FRANCIS REYES
Nickname: Francis Brew
Birthday: January 01, 1985
About Me:
Francis Brew's lazy drawl provides the perfect background chatter as NU listeners have their lunch Mondays to Thursdays from 12 to 3pm. As a twenty year veteran of the local rock scene, he also provides insights and constructive criticism for upcoming bands on In the Raw, Sundays 6to8pm. Occasionally he reviews albums on the NU Album review, Mondays 12to1pm. An NU rock jock since 1988, he spends his off-air hours losing hair and blood while assessing the performances of the NU107 on-air staff. He does find the time to play guitar and other instruments for the Roadrunner Network and other projects and is endorsed by Hamer guitars and Zoom effects courtesy of JB Music. If he's in a really good mood, he uses his DSLR to shoot unflattering photographs of the NU107 staff. Which is very easy to do.
and http://2girls1show.multiply.com
About Me:
Monica is supposedly addicted to "katol" and pentel pen. that explains her being "sabaw" sometimes.
She cant stop herself from singing song titles even if she knows her voice is terrible. She often plays heavy metal stuff during the day which almost got her fired...many times.
She is a MYX VJ and she handles the myx international top 20 every saturday 7pm, sunday 3pm and myx bandarito every saturday 2:30pm with replays during weekdays. As well as the other shows on rotation. Basta just watch myx 24/7 and listen to NU107 24/7.
