What I enjoy doing:
"EVER TO EXCEL, to do better than others, and bring glory to my forebears, who indeed were very great ... this is my ancestry; this is the blood I am proud to inherit ..."(Homer), I also like drinking beer.
-
Favorite Books:
Anything on Fr. Neenan's Deans List. I'm a diehard fan of Aristotle, Acquinas and Augustine, but I tend to get more animated about Foucault, Sports Illustrated and the J. Crew catalogue. I'm really into Biblical commentary (though I rarely pick up the original).
-
Favorite Movies:
Any book by Tom Clancy that has been made into a movie and any movie starring Chris O'Donnell.
-
Favorite Music:
For Boston!, Hail Alma Mater (though I usually forget the words), Techno's Greatest Hits Vol. 3 (or whatever the name is of the mix they play at every game in Conte Forum).
-
Favorite TV Shows:
I love watching my professors on CSPAN, my athletes on ESPN and my alumni on seemingly every existing reality TV show.

About Me:
I am not a college. I am not in Boston. Sure I was the first college to be founded in Boston (and don't let any other "Boston" universities tell you otherwise), but I've since grown up into a university and moved out to Chestnut Hill. My friends call me "The Heights." John F. Kennedy (Hon'56,'63) called me "The Jesuit Ivy." People will tell you I want to be Harvard/Princeton/Yale during the week and USC/Miami/Notre Dame on the weekend, and maybe there's just a little truth to that. But I'm working on my endowment (on my way to $2 billion), moving to the ACC (so long, Big East), acquiring new land (over 120 acres last year), and can't seem to stop winning bowl games, Fulbrights and Rhodes Scholarships. And while I failed to put my first alum into the Oval Office last November (hats off Kerry, better luck in '08), my men's and women's basketball and hockey teams are lifting my spirits and well on their way to National Championships in 2005 ... so I'm damn proud to be BC!

Who I Want to Meet:
Heightsmen and Heightswomen (+ Heightsonians of ambiguous gender identity) around the world; Eagles, Double-eagles and Triple-Eagles; Newtonians and Upperlings; Carrollers, Lynchers, Connies and Woodsies; UGBC, LGBC, BCPD, WZBC; undergrads, grads, postdocs, professors, Jesuits and alums ... all who have passed through Commonwealth Gate, walked in the shadow of Gasson Tower, cheered in the Superfan Zone, marched down Linden Lane in their reunion class, crammed at O'Neill, daydreamed in Bapst, protested in the Quad, flirted at the Plex, streaked the Dustbowl, walked the Labyrinth, broken the barriers, taken back the night, come out in McGuinn, sledded down St. John's, strutted the walk of shame, missed the last bus to Newton, run laps around the Reservoir by day, skinny-dipped in the Reservoir at night, stolen a kiss in the Rose Garden, hooked up in the Mods, gotten married at Ignatius, road-tripped to South Bend, retreated to Cohasset, and watched the sunrise above Shea Field ...

brother in Boston: Go BC!
entertained the idea of leaving you,
when now, I yearn for existensialist
conversations in the coffee shop.
Thank you for the memories . . .
football games, hockey games, Chevrus,
90 STM and all the boys down the hall,
D-minus Deese, Marty Cohen and the
mystery of mysticism, football
parties, mod parties, chorale parties,
band parties, and lest I forget,
fencing team parties (for which I blame
my permanent aversion to sake). It was
never tough to be a fan, even though
you didn't win the hockey nationals
until the year after I graduated. You
truly haven't lived until you've seen
the sun rise behind Conte Forum, or
opened your window during finals to
give a solid scream with the rest of
the campus. G-O--E-A-G-L-E-S.
Heights! Ok, as a 2003 grad, my
memories of the school and still fresh
and vibrant. From being a frosh and
wondering what the O'Connell house was
all about- all the way through mod
parties, cramming in O'Neill, trips to
white mountain and bosox games- and
finally ending with my last night
watching the sun come up from the
parking garage next to Shea field
waiting anxiously for commencement. All
I can say is: For boston, for boston,
we sing our proud refrain!
academic status and it's location is
deviously confusing enough for me to
love...and remember, Hamilton is the
small liberal arts univeristy in
Clifton, I am the one in Hamilton.
