About Me:
a boy who's gifted with musical talents, and a girl who loves poetry, art, fashion, and Alice in Wonderland..
Our music is a mixture of 60s classic pop and bossa nova, with a touch of sweet sound from electronic sampling. Best listened in the morning, with a cup of coffee, and accompanied with significant other's smile, they would make you floating in the sky of candy-floss clouds.
Santamonica is : Joseph and Dita
Established in 2003, Santamonica is the brainchild of duo Joseph Saryuf (guitars, bass, samplings, drums, keyboards) and Anindita (vocals, lyrics). Described their sound as the musical version of a trip down to Alice In Wonderland adventures, it is an eclectic mixture of indie pop, bossanova, electronic, and classic waltz which drawing influences from Astrud Gilbeto, Antonio Jobim, Stereolab to classic Disney soundtracks.
Their music is distinguished by its multi-layered sound, Joseph's surreal guitar works and Anindita's unique voice and whimsical lyrics. These dynamic duo is also actively gracing various gigs and stages, gaining more followers with the bands unique sound and stage antics.
In September 2005, Santamonica finally released their first EP titled 189 to stamp their name in the local music scene and as a warm up prior to the release of the bands full-length album.
Their full album, Curiouser&Curiouser will be released in October 2007, and the special edition album (double cds) which has some unreleased and reprise songs is available by pre-order it in September at Aksara Bookstore and select stores. Their new single "The Boy", taken from the special editon album is now played on radios in Java and Bali. While their hit single "Wanderlust" is launched on radio in early September.
