So, in a nutshell, my question is:
What REALLY happened at the Winchester
Cathedral on p1 of the big book?
On p10, Bill considers his conception
of a Higher Power and says 'That war-
time day in old Winchester Cathedral
came back again' so it must tie to
something spiritual
Then on p12, Bill says 'the real
significance of my experience in the
Cathedral burst upon me. For a brief
moment, I had needed and wanted God.
There had been a humble willingness to
have Him with me-- and He came.' So
how did God come?
What happened was that he was in such
awe of the magnificent architecture
that he lost his sense of ego-bound
self and opened up to something much
greater than himself. On p1, Bill
didn't say he went outside, but
said 'much MOVED, I wandered
outside.' He doesn't say I looked,
but 'my attention was CAUGHT'. A
message about his future, proving that
there is a Power. 'God-sense' means
you will be led places and shown
things; inspiration is talked about in
Talk about a story of experience,
strength and hope... I never planned
on gettin tight w/ Bill, but I've
learned to see eye to eye w/ him.
We've been close for 3 months and 1 day
as of this date. It's been a difficult
journey, but he can relate to my
story. Just wanted to let u know I'll
keep coming back!
at times you've been my best friend
and other times you've been my worst
nightmare but altogether I wouldn't
trade my worst day with you for my
best day without you. By the way
you've cost my "old friends" alot of
money Keep up with the good work
I figured, since any friend of Bill's
is a friend of mine, I'd add him right
away. Always looking for this network
of people, no matter where I am, even
in cyberspace I suppose.
Sure wish I could've been with Bill on
that mountain, though.
Bill has the best stories: one time he
was drinking on the golf course,
blacked out and came to at the bottom
of his stairwell w/ a gash on his
head. Boy, was Lois pissed. But that
was before he met Bob...
I am so grateful to be a friend of
Bill. I never thought I would want to
hang out with the likes of him (old
fuddy-duddy). But you just never know
what you need, do you?
Bill is a life-saver.
Man, I got wasted last night and
thought I had added "Flip Wilson" to my
friendster list....damn....HP trying to
get me sober again I guess. It's just
one God thing after another
