An only child, Selena grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas. Her big break as an actress came when she seven years old and was cast on Barney & Friends, where she met her best friend Demi Lovato. Selena played Gianna on Barney & Friends for two seasons.
Selena was discovered by Disney in a worldwide casting search in 2004. Before starring in her own series, she played guest roles in two popular Disney shows, The Suite Life of Zack & Coday and Hannah Montana. Wizards of Waverly Place, in which Selena plays lead character Alex Russo, premiered on the Disney Channel in October, 2007.
In addition to her acting career, Selena has also broken into the music industry. She performs the theme song and other music from Wizards of Waverly Place, and she covered the hit Disney song, "Cruella De Vil.Selena is currently working on her debut album which will probably release this year...

Demi started performing at a young age, and she won many pageants in Texas from the time she was seven years old. She plays the piano and the guitar, and she is an accomplished singer/songwriter.
If Demi Lovato looks familiar to you, it may be that you have seen her in the role she was most well known for prior to Camp Rock: for two years, she played Angela on Barney and Friends alongside her best friend Selena Gomez (). She also stars as Charlotte in the Disney Channel short-form series As the Bell Rings.
In addition to her acting career, Demi also has a promising singing career. She is spending summer 2008 doing live performances and touring with the Jonas Brothers. In addition, her debut album will be released in fall of 2008.

When Princess Rosalina (Demi Lovato) is threatened by an evil dictator bent on taking control of her country, she is whisked away and placed into the Princess Protection Program, a secret agency that watches over imperiled princesses around the world. Mason, an agent with the program, hides Princess Rosalina in his own home where, with the help of his daughter Carter (Selena Gomez), she adopts the cover of an ordinary teen named Rosie. An insecure tomboy, Carter works at a local bait shop after school and dreams of going to the school dance with her crush, Donny, the school hunk. Rosie quickly becomes popular at school which Carter must learn to accept but the two also form a close bond as Carter helps Rosie transform into a normal teenager and Rosie shows Carter how to find the princess within herself.
