Favorite Books:
William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, Nick Hornby, P.G.Wodehouse and Bruce Chatwin are (were, in bruce's case) amazing, W.G. Sebald's fiction haunts me, Hemingway always works, but my preferences tend mostly toward non-fiction. Love lots of history, science, politics books. Writers such as Bill Bryson, David Sedaris, P.G. Wodehouse are deeply entertaining, and Oliver Sacks, Simon Schama, Luc Sante, and many others have written great books. Mostly, though, I read many kinds of magazines: New Yorker, New Republic, Wired, Washington Monthly, Atlantic, Wine Spectator, Dwell, Harper's, Western Interiors & Design, PC World/PC Week, MacWorld, Variety and Hollywood Reporter, Time and Newsweek, much else. I like to feed the brain
-
Favorite Movies:
Princess Bride, The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, Breathless (the original; come ON), Goodfellas, Spirited Away, Kagemusha, Hero, Crouching Tiger, Jean de Florette/Manon of the Spring, Young Frankenstein, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Tricolor trilogy, a lot of other obscure stuff
-
Favorite Music:
All over the map: Brazilian; African; bebop and cool jazz and some new stuff too; AAA and alt rock, electronica/chillout/downbeat, tango, qawwali, Asian Fusion, a bit of opera and classical, alt country, blues and on and on. Some evergreens: Neil Young, Lou Reed, Prince, The Replacements, The Clash, Moby, Miles Davis, Wilco, Willie Nelson, Cesaria Evora, Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and a bunch other bands less reliably productive over the years
-

About Me:
Tall, dark and blank-faced, I am interested in many things, like to be out in the world, learning new things, enjoying people, growing and going and learning and having fun. I have lived in Los Angeles for many years, after living in the Midwest, Northeast, South and Southwest, and working as a journalist for 20 years. Now I consult with tech, entertainment and lifestyle companies that need help with great writing, media relations services and smart positioning. I'm always looking for new opportunities.

Who I Want to Meet:
I have managed to find a woman who is smart, funny, attractive, athletic, adventurous, open to lots of things and able to keep up. She's pretty amazing and things are going well. That said, I always like meeting other fun people for friends and for business opportunities. I provide media relations and writing for a lot of entertainment and technology startups, and more business is a good thing.
I have two wonderful children lurching into adolescence and see them a couple of nights a week and every other weekend. They're in a really cool place these days, and it's been delightful, very good for my soul. May it continue.
And I've started a blog, of all things, to talk about the things I think are interesting these days, particularly in the Entertainment Industry (not gossip, the business of Hollywood), Technology and Politics, especially where they all collide, as they so often do. It's called Bloom's Day
