About Me:
I live, I love, I learn. I'm learning about the importance of the inexplicable
parts of myself - those things which I cannot reveal to you except by our
contact with each other, either because I am unaware of them or
because I am unable (or unwilling) to find words that will appropriately
convey them. I am a young person in love with life. I have hope, and a
vision of positive change in the world, and I am doing my due diligence
in pursuit of that dream . I delight in coming together with other people
to create change - in so doing we build the bonds of community, we
generate a shared sense of direction, and we move our world towards a
better future. In the past thirty months, I have put in thousands of hours for progressive political causes as a self-directed volunteer and as paid staff. I spend most of my time thinking about how to make democracy work.
-
Who I Want to Meet:
I want the hopeful, vibrant people, the bright souls, my kindred spirits. I
want the joy-seekers willing to create their own change. I want people
who see and accept the world, enjoy it, and move it forward. I want you
to engage with me, willing to relish who I am and to accept my delight
in you. I want you to see and pursue your own potential, and enjoy my
pursuit of my own.

competent vegan, I love his sense of
play, his bar food (bar-shaped, not
consumed in a bar), and his fierce
commitment to politics. Plus, he makes
a damn sexy robot. Mmm mmm good.
person... perhaps intent is a good
word - he does everything with intent,
and it's absolutely delightful.
profoundly compassionate and *calm*
without ever losing his animating spark.
More mushrooms soon eh? And go Dean go.
Plus great hug
He has absolutely no knowledge of or
skill at nuclear instrument
calibration, but makes up for this with
his ample collection of small Buddha
figurines. He has never been to
Tazmania (well, that I know of)... In
case you're wondering, I have not gone
insane. I simply have no taste for
either flattery or self-aggrandizment,
and I've come to fear that this site
may collectively indulge in these a bit
more than I'm comfortable with. While I
am generally willing to criticize my
friends if I feel it's really necessary
and appropriate, and I'm sure many
other people are as well, that doesn't
seem to be how people write in these
Testimonials. Conversely, when I
compliment someone, I want it to be
clear that I do so sincerely, and not
because it seems to be expected or
fasionable or even polite. And, if
people are using this site to gain
insight into others' characters, it
well suits us to be honest, and not
only to report good things. (Of course,
we're not likely to take Testimonials
from our enemies, which perhaps
unfairly biases the data here - I am a
social scientist, in case you couldn't
tell...) That said: Gavin is one of my
best friends, and I have great respect
for him. He's extremely smart indeed,
and full of hidden talents. He's both
very literal and spiritual, which can
make him frustrating to talk to
sometimes, but this is balanced out by
his great and sincere compassion for
the world. I can think of no one I'd
rather have at my back, and I'm very
glad he's on our side.

You should know him.
him from the first day I met him, when
he was running Karma Patrol at Renn
Fayre. He was wonderfully supportive
when I was having a diffucult time
dealing with an emotionally strenuous
night shift, and I stayed up well into
the afternoon afterwards talking with
him on the front lawn at Reed. He is
such an easy person to talk to, so
intelligent and empathetic, and he
gives really good hugs.
well-thought-out. I can talk to Gavin
for hours about a great many things. He
is involved in many projects, and
commits totally to them. He lives as he
believes, and works for both personal
and social growth.

Dedicated and active in changing stagnant
