About Me:
Jensen was born in Dallas, Texas to Alan Roger Ackles, an actor, and Donna Joan Shaffer. His parents chose the name "Jensen" because it was uncommon and his mother found it in a church hymnal. It was the last name of the author of the hymn she was singing. Jensen is currently dating actress Elta Danneel Harris of the tv series, One Tree Hill.
Jensen Ackles is a Christian who holds his religious beliefs close to him and considers the Bible to be one of his favorite books.
It was said that he announced in an ET interview that he is very picky about names and when his brother's son was born he was said to have had an argument with his parents about the name they wanted for their son, which was Lee Roger Ackles. It was later changed after the dispute to Alan.
Ackles has an older brother, Joshua, and a younger sister, MacKenzie, and is of Irish and British ancestry.
He had planned to study sports medicine at Texas Tech University and become a physical therapist before moving to Los Angeles to become an actor.
