hiding....
patterns & coincidences as me, until I
met Alex. That's hella rad! Plus, she
let me live at her house when I first
moved to Portland, introduced me to
Apples To Apples, and took me on my
longest day of bike riding.
honestly, a real inspiration.
going somewhere. faye schwartz, who
would later become one of my best
friends, knew me for like two years
before we ever really started talking
just from being around trad ska shows
in boston and both being friends with
gene. she picked up an issue of my
zine, bridges freeze first, a long time
ago and basically decided she needed to
be friends with me after reading it.
that's probably the single highest
compliment i've ever gotten about my
zine, because we totally act like we've
been the best of friends for like ten
years and not three. however, the
second best compliment i ever got was
alex's lovely handwritten book format
note that she sent me in the mail after
picking a copy of my zine up at the
zine fest that had all the drama at it.
in highschool. We would sit aroud in her
basement roleplaying in that "I know this is
nerdy so it's kinda cool" way. There was
Star Wars and Punk Rock and I will always
remember the nights of kick the can.
Foundness nothing but foundness
about 9 months she is the most
talented zinesters i have ever read
and gotten to know. She always answers
my letters and lets me trade for her
zines beacuse i am a poor artist. i am
sorry about jamie and i hope to see
you at the next symposuim!
had. I wouldn't trade her, even for a
puppy...well...wait...maybe...NO! not
even for a puppy!
I love her and all she has done for me
like the one time when she told me to
put my hand under boiling water. I
still have the scar...
over an argument over exactly how many
millimeters you should leave for
margins on quarter size zines. man,
she's really into margins.
actually, she let me crash on her
couch and even offered to let me take
her bed. how sweet is that?
i keep buying packs of "magick: the
gathering" cards because i heard a
rumor that she was drawn on a card. i
haven't seen a card of her yet, but i
have a killer new hobby...
stuck her behind the microphone-She did
well as she did when I saw her part in the
fine zine tour that brought her to Boston. A
very dear person who genuinely impressed
me with her desire to put herself out there.
unexpected houseguests i've never met
on a few hours notice, i really
couldn't ask for any better than alex
and joe.
