      • About Me:

        ++++++++++++++++

        Layne Staley on vocals, Jerry Cantrell on Guitars, Sean Kinney on Drums, and Mike Inez on Bass Guitars (original bassist was Mike Starr)

        Some of the band's great work: Rooster, Would?, Man in the Box, Nutshell, I Stay Away, Sea of Sorrow, Over Now, Head Creeps, Love Hate Love, Junkhead, We Die Young, Them Bones, I Can't Remember, God Smack (the band Godsmack derived their name from this song), Social Parasite, No Excuses, Dirt, A Little Bitter, Down in a Hole, Whale & Wasp (instrumental), Rotten Apple, Angry Chair, Grind, and others.

        The darkness and power of Alice In Chains' music comes not only from the sound itself, but more from its lyrical content, and the emotional way it was delivered by the late Layne Staley, together with the back-up voice of Jerry. The blend of their voices seemed to produce mind-blowing harmonics, that will stab right at your hitherto dormant emotions.

        The darkness of 'The Mighty Alice In Chains,' as Pearl Jam's Mike McCready once called them, is not for the weak. Go figure it yourself, or maybe I can go in detail when time permits me so. ------------------ Well, here's one from Guitar World, refering to Dirt album (March 2001 issue): "Yet Dirt is more than simply Alice's deepest album--it's one of the darkest and most sorrowful records ever crafted. Cut after bleak cut, tells a sad and miserable tale, with song titles that explain it all: "Sickman," "Hate to Feel," "Down in a Hole," By the time the record ends with "Would"?" its one small slice of hope comes from a simple question mark in the title. Listening to Dirt-with lyrics like "I want you to kill me and dig me under," from the title track-is like reading the final thoughts of a condemned man. " -----------------

      • Who I Want to Meet:

        +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

        People who're into the fiercest act of the so-called grunge era, Alice in Chains ------ and those who are willing to discover.

        For the younger rockers out there, you probably missed this great and influential band. It's such a tragedy that Layne Staley wasted away and died so early.

        Re-discover Alice in Chains and their music. I dare you.

      • An interview from Guitar World mighty ages back to Jerry Cantrell; and was asked...'do you know theory?' Cantrell responds, 'I know shit from shineola...Just pentatonic scale and all the way out....I started playing the guitar at age 17; & I open beer bottles with my mouth!!' Mother...despite of that, look at this band; music comes from way beneath all us! Deep, thick, emotive...harvested from the soul. Long live. I'd tell my kids about you, AIC!...Cheers.
