I've just spent the last year+ of my life living at the end of the world. Well, close to the end of the world in Goma, Congo. And yes, it was the former Zaire, but no, Tim Curry never ran into my village looking for King Solomon's diamonds. And there were no brain-smashing gorillas, only tiny, baby chimpanzees who were constantly in need. And still are. Sure, they're cute, but after a while, the disregard for animal welfare in third world countries starts to haunt you.

So maybe I'm haunted. I still try to find something to laugh about every day, usually many times a day.

I'm back in New York, finishing my BS and going on with my life, confident that the steps I'm taking now will enable me to do more in Africa ... someday.

In the meantime, I feel like a bit of an alien, being back in the States.

I've been out of the city for so long now, I might as well sort of start from the beginning. I'm trying to replace ties I had here long ago, but I'm also trying to find new people to excite and stimulate me. Be interesting, be socially ept. I mean, we all like our nerditude, but I also like interacting with human beings from time to time, and dancing and being social and laughing
