Yo soy la isla mas hermosa en el Caribe, the mother of some of the best tobacco & rum in the world, the Tango was nothing until it danced on my shores, I've been attacked, plundered, and occupied by the Spanish, French pirates, The British, The US, The Mafia, The CIA; tried to be bought by the US for $100 million in 1848, also used as the last outpost for North American slavery(even after the US abolished it!), many have rested on my shores from the first Taino, Ciboney, & Arawak tribes to the Spaniards, The African slaves, Chinese workers, Russians, European tourists... I gave birth to rebels like Hatuey, Guama, Nicolas Morales, Jose Antonio Aponte, The Mambises, Calixto Garcia, Antonio Maceo, Jose Maceo, Maximo Gomez, Jose Marti, Enrique Creci, Salvador Cisneros Betancourt, Juan Gualberto Gomez, Los Independistas, Ignacio Agramonte, Maximo Gomez, The Suns & Rays Of Bolivar, Huber Matos, The Castro Bros(though these guys lost their direction in the end). I also have this real nasty Trade Embargo on me from my Yankee neigbors that has made life more difficult for my children, with added travel restrictions for my American brothers & sisters, though many still come legally or illegally every year...
