DIET OF WORMZ:
In german, Reichstag zu Worms. we got the name diet of wormz from martin luther. diet means people and worms a small town on the Rhine river located in what is now Germany.
It was February 14, 2002, when “Diet of Wormz” started joining battle of the bands competition and small local gigs in all corners of Iloilo City. However, before they came together as a group all of them had different and diverse musical background. The band was then composed of vocalists Kelvin Kutz Didelez and Joel Ian Sajo, guitarists, Daniel Dennis Sarrosa and Melvon Posadas, Bassist Jerson Soledad and drummer Mark Abaygar. After roughly two years of playing the same old cover songs they got tired and decided to start writing their own songs. The first song they wrote was “Run for your life”. They had their roots planted on industrial and hardcore metal type of tunes. Their first big break came when on September, 2003, they were one of the national finalists and represented the Visayas Region for the Annual Redhorse Muziklaban Rock Challenge, their song “Run for your Life” became an instant favorite and became an anthem of their humble followers.
The desirable outcome of hard work, effort and determination of this band landed them to a recording contract with then Deadstring Records, an independent label based in Iloilo, August 2004. Four months after they signed, their First EP (Extended Play) entitled “In Resurrection of Silence” was released. It contained five tracks including “Rebelnation”, “Freedom”, “Stationary God”, “Run for your Life” and “Cyphriotes”. Their album launching proved to be a success when they sold out 200 copies of their CD’s on that night.
However, due to unforeseen events, their label shut down and so did their musical careers. Followed by unseemingly relentless conflicts between band members and family problems got in the way, hampering what seemed to be a future for the band. Years after they released their first CD, they struggled to get back on their feet. Their bassist and drummer left for personal reasons. And what seemed to be a dreadful ending for the band, came to a close reality.
Now, under its new labelHEADTONE MUSIC PHILIPPINES, the band found a new life, a second chance of showing the world, their own brand of music. And with the current acquisition of two new talents to fill-in the gaps (Allan Licup on bass and Jomz Balani on drums and percussions), they combine for an unstoppable force to reckon with. Currently the band is working on its first Long-Play (LP) consisting of ten tracks, soon to be released under their new label. The Wormz are back, and we are stronger than ever!
