Monika Zikri aka Asterisk discovered the sound of drum & bass while studying in Seattle. She moved to Seattle after high school to obtain her bachelors degree in Finance. It wasn't until she moved to Portland, she then pursuit her dream in drum & bass life. Played at numerous events in the Northwest such as Crush:ed, Planet of the drums tour, Divalicious parties, Freakshow tour, Rotoscope, Onset, Proper and Oomph! She established her sound and presence in Northwest drum & bass scene.

While in Portland, the Indonesian native was resident at club Ohm for Crush:ed Drum & Bass for two years and she played at KPSU 98.3 FM radio every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month along with the rest of the crush:ed crew. Before she became the resident at club Ohm, DJ Shylok, one of the founders of Godz of Thunder, asked Asterisk to be a part of his crew alongside Colonel MC.

The combination of Godz of Thunder and the Oops brigade [Noah D, No Thing, Roommate and Ronin] created a great dynamic for crush:ed weekly drum & bass. Different style combined affects all crews to be more creative and presented Portland with such a distinctive drum & bass weekly. This has certainly shape asterisk's way of managing a drum & bass night, unique dj style and specific track selection.

Now residing in Los Angeles, she had put together a drum n bass night in downtown LA called REVOLT drum & bass every other Wednesdays in November 2005 which she then continued REVOLT as a drum & bass internet radio with special guest every Saturday morning at justin118 sound. While being invited to play at several parties and drum & bass weeklies, maintaining a drum & bass internet radio in Los Angeles as well as building recognition is a continuous effort to achieve her dream.

Asterisk smoothly blends different moods from dark and brooding to fierce and ferocious, while always keeping the sound runnin'. Come see how her charismatic style and presence behind the decks is guaranteed to move the floor!
