This one time, we were driving down to
Venice for some reason (I was behind
the wheel of my old blue pickup) and I
told Tommy that the car could steer
itself. I put my hands in the air but
kept driving with my knees. Tommy did
not notice the "driving with my knees"
part. He started to panic and broke
into a cold sweat when we went around
turns and switched lanes. He did not
laugh that much afterwards, but I
think deep down inside he was laughing.
Another funny story about Tommy:
Tommy puked Taco Bell in my kitchen
sink tube-of-toothpaste style. That
is still one of the most amazing
things I have ever seen.
so tommy, as time passes it is hard to
tell myself that i will probably never
live under the same roof as you again.
It feels like college is amounting to
four years of waiting; for my career to
begin, i guess? But the closer I come
to gradutaing, the more i wish i could
go back in time and live at home. i
miss flushing your GI Joe's down the
toilet and throwing handfuls capless
markers at you. I miss knowing i could
punch you without any reciprocation. I
miss listening in on your telephone
conversations and childishly reacting
to your countless instigations by
screaming and pinching.
You're a great brother who has given me
so many fond childhood memories. Your
talent and success is inspiring and
your sensitivity and regard for others
is touching, as well as hard to come by
these days.
