Favorite Books:
Broadly, I'm interested consistently in philosophy and theology books; political, intellectual, and cultural biographies and autobiographies; books of political history-cum-journalism; and several varieties of genre fiction, including urban fantasy (e.g., Jim Butcher, Stephen Brust, Laurell K. Hamilton [though her sex scenes have begun to tire me]); historical mystery (Lindsey Davis); and contemporary off-beat PI (e.g., Peter Spiegelman). Other favorites include Stephen R. L. Clark, Thomas Nagel, Hugh (and Gayle) Prather, Rowan Willaims, Nicholas Lash, Keith Ward, etc. Books I have read or have been reading of late have included biographies or autobiographies of Franklin Roosevelt, Charles de Gaulle, and Lyndon Johnson; Vincent Brummer's The Model of Love; Lawrence Friedman, A History of American Law; Robert Suskind, The Price of Loyalty; Alister McGrath's series (?) of books on science and theology. I'm a dilettante and I bore easily, so I'm always in the middle of several books

About Me:
I'm a political leftie, a wanna-be philosopher, and an obsessive. Friendship is central to who I am, and I care about maintaining and building close connections (some of my closest friends are people I've known since high school--or, in one case, elementary school). I write--mainly academic stuff in law, theology, and philosophy (my first book has just made its way into print), but also the occasional poem or short story. Born in Glendale, I've lived in southern California most of my life; despite the traffic and the smog, I think it's a pretty amazing place. I can't direct you to a home-page, but here's something close: http://business.lasierra.edu/full-time-faculty/full-time-faculty.html
