About Me:
I'm currently finishing up my Master's degree in Comparative Media Studies at MIT (cms.mit.edu), where I'm working as a media analyst in Henry Jenkins' Convergence Culture Consortium (www.convergenceculture.org). At this very moment I'm probably holed up somewhere with my laptop and banging away at my thesis, Transmedia Storytelling: Business, Aesthetics and Production at the Jim Henson Company. It's true. My research is a Venn diagram of puppets, David Bowie and Neil Gaiman.
I live with my wonderful girlfriend Laura, who enjoys creating custom Munny statuettes, photography, fantasy novels, Japanese culture and giving me crap. We are eagerly planning to take our relationship to the next level - getting a cat.
I'm a storyteller, which means I love reading, writing, and dreaming things up. I love books, coffee, movies, comics, and games - in that order. I enjoy singing (baritone) and playing the saxophone (by training) and the piano (by ear). I also love illustration, filmmaking, photography, graphic design, and experimenting with all kinds of media. I'm a Mac guy, and will hammer on code for hours if I get a good project going, but I'm no propellerhead. I maintain a personal site at geoffreylong.com, my creative consulting site at dreamsbay.com, and my literary magazine site at inkblotsmag.com. I have a couple of novels in the works, as well as ten thousand other projects. My weblog can be found at www.geoffreylong.com for the curious.
Very soon now my thoughts will turn to the wonders and worriments of full-time employment, which will hopefully involve a combination of new technology, storytelling, design, and fabulous wealth. Hey, I'm going to have to take care of a ton of student loans, a lady, perhaps a house, perhaps a barn, and, of course, the cat!

Who I Want to Meet:
Storytellers, creative people, old friends and new ones. Brilliant, interesting and ambitious people who would like to catch a movie, grab a cup of coffee and discuss life, the universe and everything. Also, people who aren't afraid to take me on in Scrabble. Seriously.

A: So little Geoffrey won't hurt himself.
Suring this summer, Geoff and I are going fishing in the East River for mob hits. He said he would do this. Really.
reaped the rewards. Where he might have
thrown attention and care to, say, siblings,
it instead falls to his friends, and folks, we
have it good. He is of a kinder, more loyal
era. He fears neither a stiff drink nor a tug
on the ol' heartstrings. And most
importantly, he watched me go through
puberty and still loves me. God bless you,
sir. God bless you.
you kinda wonder why he's not
conceited as hell. But he's not, and
he'd move heaven and earth if one of
his friends needed him. He does lean
toward being a workaholic, but it's
because he loves what he does and it
truly feeds his soul, not his ego or his
bank account. And ladies, he's also
very attractive.
you sleep on his couch if you showed up
one day after not emailing him in 3
years. And he'd show you the best of
Chicago (or whatever town he had moved
to) while you were there. He's the good
kind of workaholic, the kind who knows
there is more to life than work. He's
artistic without being the slightest bit
flaky, and I would highly recommend him
to my friends.
as Geoff is when I was his age. A pipe
dream.
SXSW Interactive Festival. He's one
of those guys where you instantly feel
comfortable in just five minutes
speaking with him. An awesome
storyteller, a friend and all-around
good guy.
Also: HE CUT HIS HAIR AND HE LOOKS
FUCKING HOT NOW! JEEZUS H CHRIST, IF
HE WAS THE SLIGHTEST BIT BISEXUAL I
WOULD BE HUMPING HIM IN A TEXAS BACK
ALLEY
*cough* Thank you.
about Geoff. He is one of the most
loyal and wonderful friends I've ever
had. I've known him forever and still
learn new things from him everyday.
