Band history and profile:
Inside the historical walls of Intramuros, five Engineering freshmen of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila came together and toyed with the idea of forming a band. Inspired by the character “Maestro Vitalis” from the cartoon series “Nobody’s Child”, these five young lads formed Ginoong Vitalis on September 2002 in their alma maters grass fields. John Carlo or JC, as he is more popularly known to be, the band’s lead guitarist also had another band (Clairematorium) at the time was the mastermind behind the formation of the band. A “Battle of the Bands” in their alma-matter was about to take place in the same month, thus prompting the bands formation. Carlo or KHARL, on rhythm guitars, Anver or BOY on base, Paulo or PAO on vocals and MARK on drums was also keen on the idea of forming a band, thus agreeing on JC’s proposition. In the end, Ginoong Vitalis opted to be the competition’s front act instead.
After a year run, Mark suffered from academic problems and had to leave the school. This deeply affected his relationship with his band mates and in the end, the rest of the group decided to let him go. A month after the separation, JC found a temporary replacement drummer named kuya VIC, who is now the current drummer of ProteinShake. Although they thought of kuya VIC as a superb drummer, they felt that he was in a different playing field as they were. And also due to their difference in age, they experienced conflict of interest and decided to also let him go. They also suffered from academic problems and had to shift courses, but still felt that they would like to grow more together as musicians as they go along.
Finally in the year 2004, they stumbled upon a punk drummer named Ivan or TADZ, a tourism major student in the same alma-matter. He was also drummer for another school band (Michael J. Locsin) at the time. After a number of sessions of practice with the band, he then decided to join the band permanently.
Then came September 2007, Paulo decided to leave the band for some personal reasons. The band decided to have Jericho (Jek) as their vocals.
Now the band plays their own compositions in their gigs in various spots in the Metro and is working on producing their EP. Their songs are influenced by different foreign and local bands from different genres of music. They are using these influences in making their own distinct sound.
