Ok guys,,maybe when someone uttered the word "EMO",Yeah maybe you will picture those kids wearing those I love to call "faggotry hair",you know,those one sided hair where one eye is totally covered with their hair,those kids that wear those skinny tight jeans wherein it is so tight that the jeans are preventing the blood from reaching their brains.Kids that were eyeliners wherein it looks like its always halloween evryday wherein they wear really dark clothes.Uhmm what else? Kids that are "emotionally unstable",kids that are always in misery,kids that always have a problem,well lame ass problems I bet.Kids that are so fvcked up,,they feel that its only them against the whole wide freakin world.Nah! if your one of those kids that Im sayin right now.I would want you all to welcome you to REALITY.

Everything,everything that you had thought of what EMO is was just a midleading and false comprehension.And the reason why for some reason,,all of you kids got hooked up by this FALSE EMO BAANDWAGON THINGY is because you kids are easy target.Easy taget by who? Well by all those media machinery to promote your so called favorite band for those record companies to earn and grab all your money.The so much popular word now known as EMO has turned out to be the latest FAD for all you hopeless to crave for.And you know what?They(Media,Recordlabels,clothing machinery,beaty parlors,hairdressers) had pretty suckd it up to you.They were successful in making you believe that your favorite band Alesana,From first to last,A skylitdrive etc were screamo bands.And that goes up to the record label earning all the golds.And because you see those bands in MTV,,you pathetically want to be a LOOK ALIKE of ur fave bands,,so now you'll go to a clothing store to purchase your so called "EMO fashion trend",And that goes up to the brand of clothing.And now you'll be all charged up with all those gaying lyrics and would utter : "I WANT TO DIE,,NOBODY LOVES ME,NO ONE WILL EVER.." And the next thing you know youll find urself being taunted by those so called METALHEADS "KUNO" that will brag EMO is GAY blah blah blah.

And the very same cycle goes on and on and on.And youll find urself in the end reading this FS page telling you to stop being such a faggot,,get a life,make urself useful,be socially aware instead of being a whinning pussy and all sorts of preach,sermons and advices.

Truly this False EMO thingy had became a fad. But first lets get what does fad means..

This so called EMO Fad as you know nowadays is so exxagerated,overrated and quite annoying now.It is really quite irritating for the eyes to see every person wearing the same shirt,the same jeans,the same faggotry hair and the same lame ass faces.Wherein youll mistake them for being somewhat a clone of everyone elses.

And that fad you used to call EMO.

ITs THE EMO THAT YOUR MOTHER WOULDNT WANT YOU TO KNOW.

Genre

EMO is a genre which came from HARDCORE,a sub genre of PUNK.Characterized by chaotic guitar riffs,melodic breakdows and has cathartic lyrics.The genre started in the early 80's and ended in the mid 90's but later a new genre called screamo appeared,characterized by loud screaming vocals and much intense than EMO.

History

Ang EMO ay isang genre ng musika na galing sa hardcore.Ang totoo,unang lumabas ang salitang EMO sa isang hardcore show sa Washington DC.Habang nasa stage ang bandang Rites Os Spring may isang fan ang sumigaw ng EMO habang nasa stage ang ROS.At noong summer ng 1983(84or85)kung saan nag usbungan ang mga bandang katunog ng Rites os Spring.At ng summer na yun ay tinawag na "Revolution Summer" kung saan nagsimulang umusbong ang genre.

Ngayong narinig nyo na ang ROS,,Ikumpara nyo ngayon yan samga sinasabi nyong "EMO" bands na nakikita nyo sa MTV o MYX.
Take note : EMO is just a subgenre of harcore,a genre of music..so therefore nobody can be EMO as far as everyones concerned.Kaya kapag makakakita kayo o malalagay sa sitwasyong katulad nito :

Tawanan nyo lang sila dahil isang uri yan ng katangahan.

Another Note : Nakakatawa talaga dahil parang naging ugali na nating i label ang sarili natin sa kung ano ang pinapakinggan nating musika.This does not apply to EMO alone but to all genre that are becong quite a fad.For example : dahil nakikinig ka sa mga bandang Alesana,Typecast,Chicosci ay "EMO" na ang tawag mo sa sarili mo.AT kug nakikinig ka sa mga bandang tulad ng ReggaeMistress,Coffebreak Island,SpaceFlowerShow ay "Reggae" naman ang tawag nyo sa sarili nyo.Kung nakikinig ka sa Greyhoundz,Slapshock,Queso,Voc o basta kahit anong maingay na banda.."Metal" na ang tawag mo sa sarili mo(As if alam nyo kung ano talaga ang METAL)Why just listen to the bands that you like without labelling yourself and getting OA over it? Katulad nga sinabi ko.Ang isang tao ay hindi pwedeng maging isang genre.Ang EMO ay isang Genre,at hindi ibig sabihing nakikinig ka dito ay EMO ka na.

EMO is just a GENRE,Period.

So kung lahat ng alam nyo sa EMO ay mali nga..Pati ba lahat ng inaakala nyong emo bands ay mali rin? OO naman! Ang mga paborito nyong banda na lumalabas sa MTV at sa mga warped tour ay hindi mga emo bands.Alesana,Saosin,FromFirstToLast,Panic!AtTheDisco,DashboardConfessionals,Paramore,Flyleaf ay hindi mga EMO bands.But you the cluless fans had jumped to conclusion that they are EMO because of the conflict between THESE TWO SAME WORD BUT HAS DIFFERENT MEANING.

First,the word EMO as Emotional/Emotive Hardcore

And this one sounds far different from what EMO might you think of.real EMO sounds more intense,more chaotic,And take note of the word Emotive HARDCORE..Hardcore which means they dont have lame ass gayish lyrics like Alesana's Apology or Bullet For My Valentine's Tears Dont Fall which are just about love,breakups,suicides,misery and all sorts of personal dillemas.Oh come it really looks funny seeing bands such as those play heavy chords and intense vocals and all the kids are moshing in the pit and when you hears the lyrics..the song is about taking revenge on a girl that crushes your heart.i mean isnt it lame to hear something like that?Real EMO is a more mature and sometimes tackles issues such as politics and society.A good example is 1905's Youre Wrong and Throw.

1. Underground : Lahat ng bandang nasa taas ay tumutugtog lamang sa underground scene at hindi lumabas sa mainstream media.Ang dahilan kung bakit wala kayong alam ni isa man sa mga bandang nabanggit ko ay dahil wala silang major record label tulad ng SonyBMG etc.At hindi lumalabas sa mainstream media tulad ng MTV at radio.
2. The D.I.Y Ethics : Real emo bands follow the Do It Yourself or DIY ethics which came from PUNK. The very reason why emo bands dont appear in mainstream media.Theyre just rar,passionate,sweaty hardcore kids whos very reason is just to play the music that they love.They dont aspire of being famous like being overrated,being an iconic group or playing in sold out concerts or having a major record deal.Because theyre living the DIY essence and THEY will never sell their music to the mainstream fad.

How real emo bands looks like

Real EMO bands DOES NOT HAVE ANY FASHION STATEMENT.
They dont follow any sort of fad.
They are not getting dragged by whats cool and whats not bandwagon thingy.
Kadalasan basta kung ano masuot na damit,Un lang sinusuot nila.Mostly garage clothes pa nga un.

Second,the word EMO as Emotional

And this is the EMO that you know.Kapag sinabing EMO you classify songs that has very intense emotional lyrics.And that is just lame.Because lahat nman ng kanta contains emotional lyrics.So ibig sabihin kung para sa inyo the genre EMO contains emotional lyrics,,Edi pati kanta nila Regine Velasquez,Sarah geronimo,Sharon Cuneta ay EMO na rin?For songs from them contains emotional stuffs right?And the same thing applies to all the songs ever made.All songs came from a emotional input.So how come sasabihin nyong EMO ang genre ng kantang My Heart ng Paramore o ng Seven Years ng Saosin?

Actually those bands are categorized in different genres such as POP ROCK(MCR),Progressive Rock(CaC),Alternative(The Used),Acoustic(Dashboard Confessionals),etc.But collectively we label them as MALL EMO.Mall EMO is just a joke term not a genre.Mall EMO are bands that does not really belongs to the genre EMO but foolishly and mistakenly categorized by people as EMO bands.

But I have to admit even I sees some of these bands worth listening to.They do have some good talent..Pero ang nagiging problema nga lang aymasyado nang OA minsan ang mga fans.Why cant they just listen to that band?Why do they have to look exactly how their idols are?Bale..sa itsura na ng banda tumitingin ang mga tao at hindi sa kanta nila.Ayun kasi ang problema sa mga kabataan nhayon eh..MASAYADO KAYONG ICONIC.Ang sabi nga ng isang banda mula sa Rizal: "Suportahan ang KANTA,Hindi ang BANDA."

• Saydie(Naku pu,,baka kurugan ka ni Kath pag sinabi mo sa harapan nyang EMO ang genre nila)
• Maryzark(Kai of Maryzark..so EMO?Hell there is no such thing as EMO-Tagalog)

• MCR(A PopRock band.Gererd Way said himself that they are not EMO and even said that EMO's are just pile of shits..Well fvck his lame reasoning.)
• Chiodos(Pyschedelic)
• FlyLeaf(Christian Rock)
• Paramore(Rock/Pop.I also effin love Hayley,But please do me a favor stop labelling Paramore as EMO!)

Characteristics of MALL EMO BANDS

1. MTV : Lahat ng mga nasa MALL EMO category ay palaging lumalabas ngayon sa TV.Katulad ng mga sikat na sikat ngayon na Scary Kids Scaring Kids,My Chemical ROmance,taking Back Sunday,Paramore,Flyleaf,etc
2. Signed in a major record deal : Most of the popular bands you know are signed under as major recor deal for example DashBoard Confessional and Typecast under SonyBMG and Chicosci under Universal.
3. They are high profiled,significantly famous : Sa ngayon patok na patok talaga ang mga bandang to dahil ang target nila ay ang nga kabataan kung saan nasa stage kung saan napaka significant ng emotional outputs o pinagdadaanan ang isang teenager.Kaya sila madali nakaka relate sa mga bandang to kesa sa mga more matured ay dahil nararanasan nila first hand sa buhay nila ang nangyayari sa mga paborito nilang kanta.
4. They too play good music : Yes,i cant take that away from them.Not all mainstream bands are shitmonkeys.Even I,I used to listen to Hayley williams of Paramore.I even have a Chicosci original CD.

False EMO Fashion

And also people distinguised a band if their EMO by the way the band looks like.If a band has that one sided hair,,some skinny jeans and some dress to kill lame ass body fitted shirt...EMO na ang label ngbandang yun. Which is oh so wrong.

Lokal Screamo

Ang buong akala ng halos lahat ng tao na hindi alam kung ano talaga ang emo,,ang buong akala nila ay ang Typecast,Chicosci,ImbuenoKudos,Angulo etc ay nabibilang sa emo genre.Ngunit katulad ng mga mainstream foreign bands na inakala nyong emo..ang mga lokal artist na paborito nyo ay hindi rin dapat ilagay sa klasipikasyong emo o screamo.Nasa kategorya silang Pop/Punk/Alternative/Rock etc. Chicosci is a Pop rock band,not emo nor screamo.The same thing applies with Typecast,,their not emo nor screamo..NOT EVEN CLOSE.So guys wag kayong maniwala sa napanood nio sa KAPUSO MO JESSICA SOHO kung saan sinasabi doon na ang Typecast ang "Pioneer" EMO band dito sa Pinas.Dont blame the show but blame their wrong sources.

Bilang na bilang lang ang mga tunay na screamo bands sa lokal scene.To name a few..Davao's Caitlyn Bailey,Muntinlupa's TAO BAI(TigersAreOut BearsAreIN),MeansToNoEnd,IolaMorton,Capullete and Oh Man! Oh God!.And dont dare to add ur shitty bands here because sila lang talaga ang mga naging screamo bands dito sa Pinas.And most of those band are on a long hiatus,,some are even dead now(But their MS is still there..If ever you want to taste some local screamo flavor).Capullete,TAO BAI and MTNE are already disbanded but their music is still being played by lokal screamo enthusiast. If you really want to hear some OPM screamo,,just browse their MySpace account,,for all of themr have their own Mice Space Music Page..There are also some free DL's for ya to store.Well only if you'll start listening to real screamo,,not those maked-up,overrated,over the top,crowd pleaser's MTV,major record bands.Haha

• All subliminal stereotype facts above were all justa big misconception because the term Emotional is being mixed with the term EMO or Emotional/Emotive Hardcore.The misconception was brought by either cluelessness or stupidity of the fan or the Media's misleading infos which affects everybody for mainstream media is so powerful.
• THE WORD EMO WAS JUST A TAG/TERM TO DESCRIBE ALL SWEATY,CHAOTIC,NON CONFORMIST,D.I.Y UNDERGROUND HARDCORE KIDS ON WASHINGTON DC BEFORE.That later turned into a genre which is best described by melodic breakdowns,harsh octaves and cathartic lyrics.
• EMO is DEAD : Thats right.So i guess that we should stop bastardizing the already bastardized tag further.and you know what?We are glad that EMO died.For what remains are real people who had actually listened to it.And scenester will no longer knew what real emo sounds like.
