I used to think this girl was wicked
uptight and whatnot 'til I found out
that she once broke into a church to
steal the wine! How fucking badass
is that? You get full rock 'n' roll horns
for that: \m/ \m/
You're on a toboggan ride to hell,
sweets - see you there!
Aw, the ever lovely Jane! What can I
say that has not already been said?
How about... come back! come back!
Jane was a beacon in a sea of self-
referential band-blathering boys.
Without her, nights at the model have
become yet another snore fest as I sit
and try to look interested while
scenester A describes in detail to
scenester B some kick ass piece of
equipment, or chord progression.
Jane's elegant sensibilities have
rubbed off on all who know her.She
sure is missed.
jane and i were introduced by a mutual friend
because of our intense interest in jai-alai. we
played a few matches at a local underground
jai-alai club, and let me say jane is no slouch.
after the club got shut down for illegal betting
and cock fighting...jane decided to split town.
rumor has it she is in miami working as a go-
go dancer.
my roommate is blasting morrisey (not
literally but in the "playing loud
music sense") and i thought i would get
around to writing janey's testimonial.
janey has a literary writing style that
is crisp and interesting. she has an
aesthetic concept that is fascinating
in its detail and texture. and sloan
are just fine, "between the bridges"
rules. "take good care of the poor
boy" is genius, and "the lines you
amend" from "one chord to another"
almost brings a tear to my jaded eye.
janey, you're good people.
Janey has eluded me for some time.
When I arrived in Rochester everyone
talked about Janey, who had moved
away. "Why are you going to Boston
this weekend (without me)?" I would
ask. Answer: to visit Janey. "Who is
the beautiful pouty girl in those
pictures?" Answer: Janey. And now
she comes back to Rochester just
as I am leaving. Such is Janey! I may
never know the true Janey, but I do
know this: she occasionally bursts
into charmingly happy, smily
laughter, and she has a very shiny
bike.
while typing this, the picture of her
is staring at me, business stare and
all. said stare is intimidating, but
janey is wonderful. and being a
gorgeous young lady with the ability to
mess with folks that deserve messing
with doesn't hurt, either. charming,
endearing... basically, she's
everything good that ends in -ing. the
only thing that isn't good about her is
that she doesn't live here anymore.
you're missed, dear, and you're welcome
to my record collection any time. xoxo
Man, me and Janey go way back, there's
just too much to tell. Like the time in
grade school she threw up on me during
the spelling bee finals (I won), or
that time she saved my daughters from a
burning warehouse, or the other time
she saved my sons from a different
burning warehouse, how about sneaking
off to Hong Kong to run ammo for the
Triads. Yep ... hell and back with that
girl. Great girl, really.
