GOD. reading. praising and worshipping the Creator. retreating to my room where I can think in silence. solitude [from time to time, of course]. listening to my worship CDs. classical music [buy me CDs!]. reading the newspaper. politics. dancing. thinking about everything that happened. sleeping. staying at home. pretending im obsessive-compulsive even if im not. listening to the ideas of sensible people. watching debates. talking to myself [very therapeutic]. getting my nails done. leafing through magazines. shopping for gifts for my friends. chocolates. sweets. my auntie's famous carrot cake [a constant hit in parties and one of the yummiest cakes on the planet!]. glittery stuff. beaded flipflops. books. pink. purple. apple green. white. strawberry lip balm. inquirer. LIFE meeting. looking at my pictures. sunday service. talking with my SOD friends. thursday cell with ate thea!:D

college life takes its toll on me so i normally have a clinical detachment to tv during school days. pag 'vacay' days ko [meaning weekends at paranaque], i go for whatever is on hbo, star movies, disney channel, BBC world, CNN, ETC or axn.

These are random thoughts I scribbled at various times that are so real to me now:

Honestly, I don’t want to be scared or anxious or worried about everything. I want to be free in God’s arms. I want to get lost in His presence. Sometimes, living in this world is something that has become a forced decision for us because we want an escape from the things which cause us pain. Or maybe, we just wish to escape the mundane lives we lead. We yearn for comfort. We seek perfection. We search because deep down, we know that our lives will be entwined with Him in the next life. We conjure so many stories of life after death because we are curious about how it will be like to go beyond our mortal experience. We desire to understand all the mysteries, to make sense of our fragmented lives, to live in our own utopias. We depict Heaven in more than a thousand ways because that’s the only exercise we are allowed to do—to dream freely, to romanticize the notion until our death. I wish for a reprieve. I heard Susan Myer from Desperate Housewives say, “We lead lives of quiet desperation”. And I mentioned this to Mico and Jek through a text message. Mico asked me what I was desperate for. I couldn’t answer. Then, she told me, “You’re desperate for so many things that sometimes, you don’t know already what you’re desperate for”. How true.[January 3, 2007]

Death will yield life. Pablo Neruda once said, “Poets should feel the dirt in their hands first before they write”. Let me rephrase that by saying, “Leaders can never become leaders until the soil has claimed them”. The difference between a real leader and a wannabe leader is the experience of plummeting to the ground and rising once again. As leaders, we have to set aside a lot of things in order to follow Jesus: SIN, pride, past relationships, ungodly books/music/movies, bad company, vice, leisure time used unwisely, etc. But the first thing we die unto is ourselves, our wills, our desires. My desperate wish is to transcend the person I had become yesterday and today. I no longer live for myself but for a cause larger than myself.
