words words words
-
Hobbies and Interests:
julienne slices, tamari-roasted almonds, arm warmers, non-traditional families, green eyeshadow, the Dave-Ian-and-Leila show, going to 1984 every Thursday, drooling over dogs, finding my cat crying in the garden when she kamikazed out the kitchen window
-
Favorite Books:
The Photograph belongs to that class of laminated objects whose two leaves cannot be separated without destroying them both: the windowpane and the landscape, and why not: Good and Evil, desire and its object: dualities we can conceive but not perceive.

With friends like you, who needs friends?

Christ, how this life/ from mud to miracle/ is just the prettiest little burden/ isn't it?

About Me:
I realized recently that the number of tangents I indulge myself in is directly related to the level of enjoyment I am experiencing in the conversation.
-
Who I Want to Meet:
people who sit on books when there's no furniture and who will gladly sink to the pavement with me in the midst of a good conversation, even in the most unexpected of places.
in essence: people who inspire in me the desire to be most alive, aware, adventurous, and awake, and who in turn do me the honor of allowing me to inspire them.

Testimonials and Comments for Leila
dangle the way they used to. i must,
however, disagree with her position on
the jeans thing; one can learn a lot about
people by their sartorial choices,
especially the ones down there.
pay Leila a visit. We hadn't seen each
other for a decade or so. En route to
meet the lady, she surprises me in a
cafe and unfurls a hug that felt like
nothing less than the truest edge of
one of those stop-motion time-
compressed films of magnificent
poppies bursting into bloom. That's
one of the characterological things
about Leila that make this world a
more optimistic place to live: a
consistent capacity to welcome like
she's inventing welcoming itself every
time it happens - and getting it just
right. Plus, I have her to thank for
the fact that I'm now doing yoga.
Marx:
Oh Leila, oh Leila, say, have you met
Leila?
Leila The Tattooed Lady.
When her muscles start relaxin',
up the hill comes one Pollak, Jackson.
Leila, oh Leila, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Leila, The queen of them all.
For two bits she will do a akido to
jazz,
with a view of the Mission that nobody
has.
And on a clear day you can see
Alcatraz.
You can learn a lot from Leila!
well, I haven't. What I can say is that
from the first time I met her,
her "energy" was relaxing, calming,
comfortable, fun, excited, confident,
supportive, warm and familiar. Gotta
like that!
Leila, but don't tell my girlfriend!
not a bad thing, mind you. She was
very hard to keep up with for a while.
the best playmates anyone could ever
hope for. totally an enabler -- leila
gets people to naturally do the things
they really want to do but are usually
too reserved to try, and love every
moment of it. she's one of the most
real people you'll ever meet, and the
most fun you could hope for... and damn
this girl knows how to make a
blindfolded evening into an
unforgettable experience.
that everybody at the party admires.
And she's also just a wonderful person.
Yaaaarrrr!!!!!
