life this year. i have tried to fill the holes
he left behind with never ending knitting
projects but i can't seem to find the right
yarn for the task. when i think of him in
california i think of sunshine and tomatos
and try to imagine this car he
supposedly owns but all i get is a picture
of him riding a beat up old bicycle.
most generous guy I know.
Retro-Sports Nation! From P-town,
Lisbon to The Hague, he's helped
me rock the beaches with some
fierce Kadima. He can braise a
brisket and cook a biscuit with the
best of them. He shares my
perverese enthusiasm for Chanda
Rubin and all WTA players ending
-ova, and can quote Roland Garros
results from three years past--one of
the many, many reasons that we still
live together.
how much I love Matt, but instead I'll
paraphrase a little story he once told
me (sorry if I got the facts all wrong
Matty): He was in NYC, visiting some
friends or buying some black market
puppets from someone - in any event he
was in someone's apartment. He went to
leave and there was this fairly
interesting-looking bag sitting there.
He asked about it and someone told
him, "You like it? It's yours." He
went on his merry way, but didn't open
it for awhile. When he finally did, he
was the happiest boy on the entire east
coast. Why? Because it's not every day
you a) get a nice, free bag or b) get a
nice, free bag that contains a bottle
of Johnny Walker and a pile of middle
eastern gay porn. Maybe that shit
happens to you all the time, but it
doesn't happen to me, so I was really
impressed.
OK, I changed my mind, I'll add
something emo about Matt: he was my
first love. I could say he
inadvertently broke my heart, but that
would be a big, fat lie. He's simply
one of the best people I've ever known
and even with years apart and the
differences that time makes, our shared
past still rears it's crazy head and
reminds me of just how sublime life can
be.
one else.
wheat biscuits i knew he was indeed the
roommate from heaven. (if that doesn't
sound exciting to everyone, he also
makes a kick ass carrot cake.) the
discovery over dinner of our
independently led frienster lives was
one more miracle. that's matt, one
miracle after another. i await only
the final coming of my knitting
lessons. then he will have made my
life complete.
he's an angel (he hates it when I say
this). and he's sooo cute. and: he made
me read my 1st harry potter book. big
love 4ever!
