About Me:
Occupation doesn't really give you much room - I'm the new Executive Director of the Greenwich Village and Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.
I'm 5'8", 170 lbs, dark brown hair, blue/green eyes.
I like to workout and stay in shape, but it doesn't define my life. I am a military brat and was raised on Army bases across the South, predominately in Georgia, Virginia and Missouri (but also including the Presidio of San Francisco - where I went to Junior High School - Zion Lutheran).
I'm a voracious reader, especially epic fantasy and sci-fi, love to cook, am very active with local politics (Stonewall Democrats of NYC, HRC).
The thing that most impresses me aside from a sharp intellect is compassion and a commitment to social justice. I have a very outgoing personality and am a bit hyper at times, so I need to meet patient (or at least easily amused) people. I have a fairly ornery cat.
I moved up to NYC in 1991 from Atlanta and have been here ever since. I love the city and can't imagine living anywhere else.
-
Who I Want to Meet:
I'm open to talking with most anyone, especially if you're into sci-fi/fantasy, listen to any of the various music groups listed above or are interested in local politics.
I'm up for friendships especially, and like to trade e-mails and get to know people.
A few guys and I have organized a monthly gay dinner social in Astoria - if you're interested in coming and networking in the neighborhood, shoot me a message with your email address and I'll add you to our evite list.

Testimonials and Comments for Dirk
Anyway, I can only imagine the political discussions taking place just down the street from my former home... This election season just seems so much livelier than 2004
Superhuman or Overman. He also speaks
some Spanish.
politics from a concerned but
apathetic distance, Dirk was fiercely
battling for justice. Ah, how little
things change. Dirk also has pretty
great taste in music. I can't even
begin to list all of the music he
introduced me to that, at the time, I
thought he was crazy for liking and
only in retrospect realized he was on
to something brilliant!
Italian. Thanks, Dirk, for trying to
save the world. Lord knows, these days,
we need someone out there trying.
