There is an unbroken thread that permeates through every song written by M-Jah. This connecting line is the core belief and foundation of the band's existence that is best described in the words of one of the greatest civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. that says: "...Behind the dim unknown, stands God within the shadow, keeping watch above His own. Through a world ravaged by wars and man's inhumanity to his fellow human beings in N.Y.C. Watchapayn, or in the midst of the catastrophic destruction of our environment especially the contamination of our rivers and oceans in "Kanal (River Song), or the excruciating agony of lost love and the pain of letting go in "Alon, M-Jah's songs are full of hope. It is a hope that Mighty Yahweh (as the name of the band implies) embraces all experiences of the human enterprise.

The band does not fall in the "you hear one, you hear all category. They can shift from a heavy metal rendition in one song to a ska or jazzy beat in another without much difficulty. They even experiment on fusing two or more genres in one song, which are often criticized by conventional minds but also gain the support of people who dream that artists must not be afraid to break new grounds, to be original so to speak. The bottom line is, they are not out there to please the motley crew - they just love to make music. For if music be the food of love, says Shakespeare; or the manifestation of a creator who is the bestower of every good and perfect gift, as the band believes, we should play on.

"Cause and effect is not only a compilation of songs written through the years but also an archive of spiritual odysseys of each member of the group. Behind every mood of the song, whether melancholic or exuberant, are friends, lovers, families and significant people who made an impact on the life of the group. And of course, to JAH who in Him, we live, move, and have our being. Be all glory and praise!
