About Me:
Cypherpunk. Anarchist. Technologist.
I dropped out of high school, went to MIT, got involved with
ecash and cryptography, dropped out, started an ecash
company in Anguilla, got kicked out of Anguilla and moved to
Oakland, started HavenCo, lived on Sealand for a couple
years, and then left. Now I'm working on a couple books,
some startup companies, and traveling. I'll probably go
back to MIT in a year or two, finish up undergrad and get an
S.M. or Ph.D., and then work on a Gerald Bull-style 'Space
Cannon' or other cheap orbital launch system, to put up a
constellation of thousands of low earth orbit communications
satellites, cheaply. Full circle, kind of. Basically, I'm
trying to have end to end security in the face of arbitrary
threats, for communications, commerce, etc. 'That
government is best which governs least', assisted by
technology which makes it impossible to govern ideas and
commerce...
I'm a big fan of media piracy in my daily life; I haven't
paid for a CD or movie in a long time. I like computers,
networks, wireless communications, guns.
Odd facts: I don't yet have a driver's license. I have
replaced all my belongings 5 times in 5 years. All the
physical items I care about fit in briefcase and backpack.
I'd be perfectly happy living my entire life in W and
Mandarin Oriental hotels around the world, but don't have
the cushy consulting job to expense it yet. My priorities
are air, water, power, network, food, shelter, safety,
temperature.

Who I Want to Meet:
People I can respect intellectually and morally. People who
distrust authority, have faith in the possibility of
technology, and understand that if they don't do it, no one
else will. Self-confidence is important, as is a
willingness to take (calculated) risks in pursuit of goals.
I am really happy to have (again) forsaken 'cute but dumb'
or 'cute but stressful' for people I can actually respect,
or being alone. My 'putting up with bullshit' quota has
been exceeded for the rest of my life; any time I would
formerly have spent being nice to those best described as
'psycho bitches' (male or female) just because they're hot,
is now being spent making money, which will then buy me
quality complex organic molecules, travel, consumer
electronics, firearms, books, and other goods/services for
recreation and joy far in excess of anything resulting from
association with the psychotic and manipulative. Hence, I
have a LOT of time for work these days.

whip. can go for days without sleep and
still leap tall buildings in a single
bound. in a word: nifty - to the core.
as family the moment you meet I never
had to "get to know" Ryan; I knew we
were of the same tribe...
Hey, we Evil Geniuses gotta stick
together... Ryan is great when it comes
to quiet nights home in the Lair
formulating sinister plots over a nice
bottle of wine. This man is First Tier
Evil Genious(tm), and fabulous in just
about every way that counts. (And I'm
far too misanthropic to claim that lightly!)
who can.)
international conspiracy that was after
a friend of mine as a birthday present
for him.
Also, he is more l33t in real life than
I am in my dreams. He proves P = NP on
his cocktail napkin at lunch, and then
throws it away when he has finished
eating. He breaks information theoretic
secure cryptosystems in his head while
cooking gourmet dinners.
He has a really cool belt.
in the midst of a riot. Also, you have
to watch out -- he's a bit too
excitable and tends to be overbearing
in person.

that time, I've always been impressed
with his knowlege and decorum.
I'm proud to call him a friend.
chatting, and stuff only now do i
realize that you and I are from same

miles from you -- I am amazed we never met.
out how long I've known Ryan and it
seems like it's been around 8 years?
We finally had a chance to meet in
person this year and I'm really glad
that we did, because Ryan has grown to
be one of the people that I respect and
look up to. Ryan is great to talk to
and has a really pleasant giggle that
will disarm you immediately. Fo
shizzy. He's mah nizzy.
