Don't let the lame cover art fool you. "The Hitcher" isnt a great movie, but it's not a guilty pleasure either. I was expecting some cheesy B movie slasher thrills. But (suprise suprise) this wasnt a slasher movie. While many people die in this movie (mostly cops), there is only one actual death scene. This movie looks like it was made by a major hollywood studio. All the shots are beautiful. And believe it or not, the special effects are great! (although mostly pyro) If you like suspense thrillers, then this is a must. Trust me, for only an hour and a half movie, its worth your time. My only upset though, if you rent it, dont read the envelope slip that it comes in. It gives away a very crucial plot twist!
It was probably inevitable that a movie as funny and raunchy as the first American Pie would get a sequel, but only a couple of the characters/situations had any new laughs in them. Band Camp Girl's increased time saved the movie, even if to many potential laughs were glossed over in a montage sequence. Finch and Stiffler were amusing, but the other two friends' subplots were of no value, and the whole Nadia line lacked humor except when Band Camp girl was involved. There's also an overabundance of situations SO contrived that no one would be in them, and I found myself embarrassed for the characters being so stupid such as when Stifler is urinated upon, the 'lesbians' scene, the Petey trombone incident, and the whole glueing incident. The movie is wholly average.
