About Me:
TheAsianParent is a free online community targeted at urban parents and parents-to-be, who live in Asia or are of Asian heritage.
Why TheAsianParent?
We were tired of reading and watching content from western magazines/websites, that though were interesting, were not very relevant to the Asian parenting market or our way of life. It saddened us to find out that though Asia amounts to more than half the world’s population, our beautiful culture and needs were being ignored by the big players. You can find hundreds of thousands of postings on western baby shower parties, but hardly ten articles on baby first month celebrations or even confinement stories/articles!
We were also fed up with the way some “local” print magazines seemed to focus on the traditional care giving aspects of parenting and solely focused on mummies. Worse still most of them present procreation as a cute and cuddly experience, all pink and powder blue! (Which we all know is complete hogwash!)
So that’s why TheAsianParent. We aim to be the number one source of Asian parenting news, opinion, education, and entertainment. We offer our educated, culturally engaged Asian readers lots of articles, videos and pod casts that are not just credible and relevant but cutting edge, stylish and light-hearted. We also offer our readers a forum where they can meet like-minded parents to communicate, commiserate and celebrate the absurdity and wonder of it all.
