About Me:
2.6 GPA honors slacker student in high school. No direction in life.
Film and video games saved my life. Went to community college, totally motivated. Came out with 4.0 GPA. Now I'm in the best film school in the world -- USC.
As I crawled through high school, theatre came looking for me. This situation came by chance when I decided to follow my best friend, Boris, to volunteer as part of our schoolA's theatre production crew. I spent hours in a dark sound booth switching knobs and pressing buttons determining what level and kind of sound was appropriate for the people on stage. As a technician I was nothing but a mechanical worker. I was hardly involved in the emotions that were felt onstage. If I wasnA't doing sound, IA'd be in a chair next to the director as a production assistant doing every little job she had for me. The more I worked being a production assistant, I had the chance to listen and watch. The more I quietly paid attention, the more I felt the tremendous individuality among the characters on stage. I was beginning to notice the actions that helped define a character and the elements that banded together to become a story. Inevitably, I fell in love with the power of words. I was inspired at how writers can write emotions in a person that mirror my own to form a structuralized story so coherent, you wonder if youA're still in reality. These words made me care for the characters and the ideas they represented. Additionally, the fact that the director was amazing- with a few twists of actor motivations, blocking changes, a few changes of dialogue here and there- she got the vision she wanted. These events got my mind rolling in a different direction and I was beginning to realize something about myself.
Thus came a lucky time in high school English. The premise was a video project, a film to reenact Macbeth. While I filmed and edited the first film in my life, I wondered how I could spend hours on a film without being phased. It came to me like
