yes I knew you in school but you seriously just keep getting better and better in my estimation. I can count on you for certain things (dry wit, a quick listing of scientific terms that I don't understand, coffee) but you continue to surprise me with others (bike riding in your sleep with maniacal laughter, apple cider doughnuts, a secret super soft heart, fish and chips). how do you do it? I love me some jackie.
I mean, yes, she is bent on world domination, and yes, she has developed some super virulent strain of something-or-other with which to hold the world hostage... but she's so cool about it. There is no hyperbolic oratory, no maniacal laughter, no bad hairdos, just the threat of genocide backed by pages and pages of cold, hard, verifiable research.
So... um, Jackie, If I continue being a good lackey... do you think I could have Australia?
got emails. Batten down the hatches,
sister.
(Hey, jackie. I miss you.
Your laughing, your fancy cocktails,
your wit like those double-sworded kung-
fu masters who never holler, only swing
those puppies like the devil and scare
the pants off you (awfully thrilling), also
your good ear. Also your woolen pants
and the lovely swagger you have when
you're dressed up (so nice) and in your
cups.
I'm not microscopic and I don't ride a
bike much, you holy terror, but maybe
we could hang out sometime?)
she's just smart enough to fool everyone
else into thinking so.
intimidating. Luckily I was able to
suppress my fear of rejection long
enough to ask her to sign my yearbook!
testimonials is that Jackie is by god
the truest friend you could ever want -
or not want - to have. She asserts her
friendship even when you suck. She is
brilliant, enthusiastic, funny, stylie,
creative and enigmatic. I've never met
anyone else like her... Oh, except Dan.
And they hated each other for so long...
Like two discos competing for the same
clientele. Then they got over it and the
merger has improved both of them
immeasurably.
The world is a better place with Jackie
in it. She is a genuine, unique soul.
Sometimes she says stuff she shouldn't.
She'll blurt out inappropriate
statements to mom's or cousins or
unsuspecting barflies with weak
constitutions... But if you're wise and
unflinching you'll see into the real
Jackie. And the real Jackie will see
into you. Then you can count yourself
among the rare and lucky.
defence of small mammals. I once watched
her grill a famous author of a book on
rats about his childhood anti-rodent
bias. It was heartwarming. Bravo Jackie!
