I was home last nite, after a short trip. This time I wasn’t late, a bit after 7. I was tired & my suitcase was full of dirty clothes. However, there was 1 small box especially for you. I rushed to your bed room, something wasn’t right: the light was off & your pink slippers were lying underneath our coat hanger. I opened your room: dark, cold, & empty. I suddenly realized: you were gone, this time is for good. I looked at that small Chocolate Line box from Brugge that never got the chance to get to you. I should have known that you will already be gone when I’m home, but deep down I still think of you as a part of my ‘home’ away from home in Rotterdam.
Everything won’t be the same anymore, Schiekade 53C and I will certainly miss you. Thank you for all the memories, Belda. For listening to my stories when I was ‘galau’, all the gossips, & all your supports.
