FAITH
Having faith requires leaps of faith, cerebral acceptance of miracles - immaculate conceptions and divine interventions. And then there are codes of conducts. The Bible, Al-Quran, Buddhist and Hindu scripture......... They all carry similar requirements and similar penalties. They claim that if I don't live by a specific code I will go to hell. I can't imagine a God who would rule that way.

GRACE
It is the music of personality, a harmony of self. The world eats ugly pills, the streets swarm with disappointed thugs. We advertise ourselves in neon. To see the someone who looks as though she danced, who would be able to touch a piano or a child without leaving fingerprints is to be reacquainted with beauty and to feel better.

BRAINS
Stupidity is gaining on us; Sex is mostly in the head. Talk gets us through the night and work makes adulthood interesting.

HISTORY
It takes a long time to grow up; to be at least a 3rd of the way through the novel of you where the plot gets tricky.

MYSTERY
It is the enemy of routine, Secrets are erotic and we need our dreams and strangeness. One of the many agreeable aspects of heterosexuality is the difference, the friction between men and women. Love is less a perfect understanding than it is surprised respect.

The self is dull and requires a superior purpose and performance.

We are going to die anyway and what's the point of being pompous about it?

Not having children is a failure of the imagination.
